However, it seems that some of the questions and responses being posted are by kids or people who have nothing valuable to say. Some questions seriously lack common sense- for example, someone posted ';My dog just ran away, what should I do?';. (Obvious answer: Get off the computer and go look for your dog!)
Do you agree or disagree?Do you always trust the advice of others on Yahoo answers? Any peeves?
I think YA is a tremendously entertaining and useful thing.
I don't really have any peeves, but I will say that I was astonished at how badly people who speak English as a native language mangle it on the forums. There's also a kind of vacuum in their view of the world-many seem oblivious to anything that happened before ';Star Wars.';
As for the jerks on the forum, it's like going to the movies on a Friday night, there's going to be a lot of people and at least ONE of them will be highly skilled at being obnoxious. It's part of the human condition, I guess.Do you always trust the advice of others on Yahoo answers? Any peeves?
I completely agree. There are many questions that are not questions at all or they are complete gibberish. That's my pet peeve. Also, I agree that anyone relying completely on the advice of anonymous strangers is an idiot.
I agree.
And some after they find their dog, need to go look for their . . . .
I remember a movie staring Mandy Moore. In that movie, Mandy plays the daughter of a poor preacher and her mother had died.
Some mean kid in high school asked Mandy one day, why if God was so smart He couldn't find a better looking sweater for her to wear.
The character played by Mandy Moore replied, ';Because He is too busy looking for your brain!';
The name of the movie is, ';A Walk to Remember';.

It sounds like the poster of the dog question was just being facetious. Of course, after looking and not finding the dog, there are other avenues that one could suggest if the question was legitimate. However, the word ';just'; signifies that the person is not asking a serious question, or is not very adept at expressing himself in English.
I think for something that is not serious or life threatening this is a good first place to start. Like everything else in life you have to look at the information you are given throw away the obvious bad choices,keep the good and check out the maybes. Alot of what is posted are resources that will lead you to somewhere else that does have what you are looking for. For some people especially those who can not get out this is a means to connect. I find no harm in that.
i take it into consideration just like i take real life advise in consideration
Agree! Totally! I worry that some of the ';less intelligent'; questions are real... and I worry more that some of the ';less intelligent'; answers will be used... does anyone have any common sense any more (or is that now politically incorrect?).
I agree with you! So many simple questions, and since you're already online, why not look up things like weight loss, pregnancy, animal care.... And by the way, how are we expected to tell people what to wear? Look in the mirror, if it looks good, go for it!
hahahaha good point
:) kinda like me i just dont have
anything to do right now so i log
on this thing and answer questions
like this, but sometimes i do have something
to say to some questions asked.
No, I can't say I always trust the advice of others on Yahoo Answers. Nor do I trust the advice of others anywhere else.
I appreciate the advice of others and weigh them together with what I know and reach a conclusion. Most of the time the advise is sound.
I think you are being somewhat pompous when you say that some questions lack common sense. Yes, it would seem the obvious thing to do would be to get off the computer and go look for the dog. Sometimes, however when something happens we are not thinking as clearly as normal and a push in the right direction is appreciated.
